[ We're not even going to think about the rage that the event gave him.

Instead, let's backtrack to a couple of days ago--It was a rainy and dreary day, and wandering around getting wet outside probably wasn't the best idea for his health, so he decided to turn in early. But what greeted him when he returned to his humble abode was a familiar cat, sitting on his doorstep looking like he owned the damn place.

Fast forward to today. Souji's kind of got the gist of this journal thing. People use it like a posting board and sometimes open it at the most inconvenient times and say things that are pretty embarrassing. That can be used to his advantage, right?

So when his cat's asleep, he'll lounge next to him, journal open. Oh and he totally dropped it on the floor by accident and that's why it's open conveniently next to him, recording. Right. Everything he says is a complete accident!! ]

Heheh, you're cute when you sleep, Toshizo.

You're always so irritating and giving me bad looks when you're awake. But like this, when you let me pet you... I realize how soft you are, and how peaceful you can be... and even I can calm down a little.

[ A little pause before he chuckles again. pokan the nose... ] So cute. ♥

[At first, Varric's about to say something snide about this strange guy finally loosening up and getting a girlfriend (Boyfriend? Eh, he doesn't get these foreign names). But the talk about "petting" and "softness," while often used in that context...this seems to be a particular sort of case.]

Sharing your bed with something fluffy, huh?

[ Petting Toshizo... wow Varric I hope you don't give it away!! ]

Someone who followed you from home, I take it? Or did you spend the last month bonding?

Followed me from home. It might be easier without him around, but it's not bad like this, either.

[ Picking Toshizo up, which effectively wakes him up from his nice kitty nap and holds him up to the camera. And with his bad attitude and all, he starts to meow-whine, wriggling in Souji's hands. Now he looks like the real Hijikata, scowl and what not. ]

That's not a nice face.

[ Dropping him FINE GO AND DO YOUR CAT THINGS, TOSHIZO ]

[That earns a laugh from the dwarf.] I see what you mean.

Still, having something at least that familiar to you can't be so bad, right? [All Varric has is an important figure from another country who he doesn't even really know.]

Anyone from your home turn up? People, I mean.

That's a bit complicated. [ Eh, does he have to explain that to this guy... ] But basically, no.

Well, hey. Me neither! It's not as bad as I thought, but...shit, what I wouldn't give for Hawke to drop in. Or Isabela. [He shakes his head with a grin. Sorry Souji, it's mild nostalgia time.] They'd tear this place apart.

It would repair itself right afterwards, maybe, but it's the thought that counts.

Couple of crazy women I ended up following around Kirkwall, yeah. If anything even remotely interesting happened back home, you could bet your mother Hawke was involved somehow. Uncanny, really.

[And then, more to himself than to Souji:] Hmmmm. If Blondie ever showed up, I wonder if his beloved cat would follow him, too? Maybe then he'd lighten up...

[ "Kirkwall..." He tries saying it and it just sounds like "Kaaakuwoooru". Damn you foreigners have weird names. ]

Hm, so you are a Westerner. I take it you traveled a lot?
