[ Later that afternoon you will find not one, but two Soujis making their presence known in the town square. Standing on benches near the fountain, they both have books open and seem to be reading from them, projecting their voices over the wide open area. There's an open journal by their feet, simultaneously broadcasting it over the network. Wonder what they're doing? Why not take a closer look? ]
[laughing] Okay, here is one of my favorites:
[DRAMATIC CLEARING OF THROAT and speaking loudly enough for the entire plaza to hear]
春の花五色までは覚えけり
Of the spring flowers
I have remembered up to
The fifth colour.
[.....pffffffffffhahahahahah]

[ GRINNING. It is SO hard not to break out into laughter. ]
Hm, that's a rather nice one, but I guess I prefer--
うくひすやはたきの音もつひやめる
Cuckoo and duster
Sounds from one and the other
Both stop suddenly
--It's pretty deep, don't you think? But I think if you think about it for too long you might get a headache.

Anyway, he checks his journal after getting ready for (what's left of) the day and such. There's usually nothing interesting on it, so he's just idly skimming. But oh, seems like Souji put something on here, that could be important.....]

The point is, the bastards have his haiku and he's going to take them back!!! He has to get them off the streets and back into his drawer where they belong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He makes it to the square in what is probably record time. He's learned enough by now not to announce his presence over the journals, but you two saw this coming, right? You felt his wrath from oceans away, no doubt.
Fortunately for you, his wrath is pretty contained at the moment. It's a simmering volcano that hasn't quite blown its top yet. Yet. So when he speaks from behind the two Soujis it's deceivingly quiet.]

[AND YUP, off they go. Souji takes off after his twinsy, keeping close in case he needs to hand the book off. POETRY MUST BE READ FOR GREAT JUSTICE.]

Well, he's got no choice but to give chase, does he? He's not bothering to hide his anger anymore:]

[Which Souji? Does it matter? Either way, you guys have a pissed-off vice commander on your heels. Better run fast!!]

When Hijikata yells, all Souji can do in response is just
bark with laughtergive a super loud laugh. Oh, he's running fast! Which is probably going to kick his ass in a few moments here but he's bookin it!!And throwing another mischievous grin at his twin. heheh ]

The good thing about this infuriating situation is that Hijikata has practice thanks to Souji's previous antics. But he's never really been one to look on the bright side.
When Okita begins reciting another poem (and on that note, why? is his humiliation really that important to you guys that you'd run at top speed AND recite poetry WHILE terminally ill?), Hijikata lunges for the book, not quite wise to what the plan is.]
